L is for the way you look at me...

It would seem that I have fallen in love with this cardigan (I'm a polyamorous knitter, so I feel that this does not at all affect my feelings for Guld, with which I feel I have established a strong, loving bond). The pattern, designed by Laura Zukaite, is called "Rambling Rose" and was published in the Winter 2006 issue of Interweave Knits. In an overwhelming (an slightly impulsive) moment of passion for this cardigan, I ordered the back issue (waiting time: 3 weeks), which almost doubled in price after shipping. It'll be worth it, even if it does set my Guld fund back.

Anyway, here is the cardigan as knit by debby on ravelry (sorry, only ravelers can access that link, but credit must go where credit is due, so I link).

And of course let us not forget the back, which is no less beautiful.

I think I'm going to have to start a second fund (as though the first has been overwhelmingly successful).

Knitting Obstruction

I was happily knitting along this afternoon. I got up to check e-mail and so forth and it seems that I have lost my comfy knitting chair.

She's lucky she's adorable.

Also, I would like to point out that she appears to be making every effort to take up as much room as possible on the seat of that chair.

Short Attention Span

It seems that I've caught a mild case of Second Sock Syndrome. The second monkey is coming along... just beyond the cuff. Nothing worth seeing that hasn't been seen with the first sock. The Kingstons are coming along as well as they're my "knitting in public" sock, id est on the bus, at the bus stop, or basically wherever I have to wait. Pure stockinette doesn't require much thought.

Now, because I have a short attention span and I like having projects across the difficulty spectrum, I've also started the Clessidra stockings by
I apologize in advance for the crummy quality of the pictures. I take most of these with my cell phone.

Back
Crisscrossed hourglass cables on a purled background.

Left Side
Central cable as on front with a stockinette back toward the front (in the shadowy left of this picture) and a seed stitch band toward the back (right). The right side mirrors this.

Front
Seed stitch flanked by a single small cable on either side.

Bohus Bug

I have been bitten by the Bohus bug. I'd imagine it's beyond my abilities as a knitter (right now, anyway), but something about knitting a sweater on toothpicks pleases me immensely. You can see these beautiful sweaters at Solveig Gustafsson's website. Click on "Bohus Stickning" and be prepared for lots of images. Computer-draining images. Eye candy. However, because I am a kind and generous soul (and moreso because I am particularly in love with "Guld" and "Skogsmörkret"), I shall share with you now for your (and mostly my) viewing pleasure said loves.

Guld
Gold

By: chartreuse (links to Ravelry, sorry!)

From Solveig Gustafsson's website... the original?

Tell me that's not pretty. Step lightly, commenter. Step lightly.

Skogsmörkret
Forest Darkness

From Solveig Gustafsson's website... again...

There's a very beautiful one by LittleMousling on Ravelry, but since you can see her face in the photos, I'd rather not link them without her blessing. Just picture it like that only prettier.

New Babies

So here are my purchases from the yarn sale. I know it's not much, but not much is basically how much I have available to me financially.

Claudia Hand Painted Yarns
Fingering
Colorway: "Purple Midnight" (my picture is more accurate than the website's)

and...

Zwerger Garn
Opal Sockenwolle
"Herbstmelodie" (I believe it only comes in this colorway)

Yay for more pretty socks.

Kingston Socks

I'm tired, so I don't feel like babbling on, but here's the progress on the socks. I'm just using a simple pattern that I'm sort of winging/making up as I go along since it's mostly stockinette anyway and socks are fairly basic. Self patterning yarn rocks my socks.

Blog Neglect

I know I haven't been posting as compulsively as usual, so here's what I've recently started (because I have this need to have multiple projects going at once--you knitters understand).

I finally got some nice self-patterning sock yarn. I guess it's part of Berroco's new spring line called Sox. The colorway is "Kingston." One skein makes two socks, so if you're feeling loving and want to donate, I like "Huddersfield," "Liverpool," and "Leeds" too.

Finally, I've decided to start my first sweater. Originally I had intended to make Giraffe by Rachelle King of Studio Knits. However, I don't think the yarn I bought for it is going to lend a particularly flattering drape for a sweater like that, so I've opted to make Forecast by Stephanie Japel instead. It's a lot more interesting and unique. So far so good with the seed stitch collar.
